TESTIMONIALS

"After two years of supporting one of Children of Uganda's kids, I finally made the commitment to make the trip to Uganda to meet her and the rest of the kids at the Kiwanga and Rakai homes. I spent 17 days in Uganda and will never regret a minute of it, nor one penny spent. I returned refreshed and knowing that I'd probably achieved more real good in three weeks there than in three years back home... My trip as a volunteer for Children of Uganda left me with an appreciation of people and their strength of character, my own ability to be of help, and with 'family' that will be in my heart forever."
- Mike Openshaw, Children of Uganda Volunteer

The above statement is from a volunteer who visited Uganda in the summer of 2005. During his three week visit, this volunteer fixed and/or upgraded five computers at the children's home, replaced the drainage pipes in the children's shower facilities, donated 20 new benches for the children's dining hall and a suitcase full of over the counter medications to the nursing station, and spent time with the child he sponsors. What a great way to spend three weeks of vacation time!

We welcome individuals and groups of volunteers to work with us to bring hope to the lives of hundreds of AIDS-related orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda. We have several volunteer opportunities for people interested in making a difference in the life of a child.

  • Office Volunteer - help with administrative tasks at our office in West Virginia. We are less than an hour from Washington, DC.
  • Development Volunteer - help staff coordinate fundraising activities in your area to raise money to support programs in Uganda and/or the Children of Uganda tour in the United States.
  • Uganda Volunteer - go to Uganda and assist local staff members with on-going projects, or create your own special project to benefit the children in Uganda

The list of volunteer opportunities described above is not exhaustive and we welcome new volunteer ideas. If you or your service group have an interest in volunteering, please e-mail us at info@childrenofuganda.org.
